Ambassador Competition Winners Trip

The participants of the Ambassador Competition had an amazing experience in Israel from 16-23 February 2009. The focus was on communication and advocacy for Israel.

They visited Neve Shalom, Azraeli viewing gallery, Ramalla checkpoint, border patrol unit head office on west bank border, Israeli deaf experience museum, Bar Ilan university, Arad Medical Centre and had a unique tour of the Old city of Jerusalem. The participants had talks by Mark Regev (press secretary to the Israeli Prime Minister), Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks, the Head of the Border Patrol army unit among others. For Shabbat, the group joined the Shabbaton Choir weekend, together with the Tribe Israel Leadership Training (TILT) participants and the JFS Lavi programme participants. The Chief Rabbi and Yehuda Avner (former Israeli Ambassador to UK) were present. We were also joined by a group of over 50 British Olim.
On Friday night the Ambassadors presented to the whole group on the question of Israel's actions in Gaza in January 2009, bringing arguments relating to Israel's right to defend herself, Hamas as a corrupt leadership and the 2005 unilateral withdrawl from Gaza.

Leor Mizrachi, one of the Ambassadors said, "The trip was fantastic and I really enjoyed it. I have gained a more in depth understanding of Israels diplomacy."
